BaseballWatch — User Manual

1. Getting Started

BaseballWatch brings live pro baseball to your wrist. Install it, register your favorite players (or pick a favorite team), and the watch keeps you in the game — live score, count, runners, and real-time event notifications. Every feature is free for the first 14 days.

Install BaseballWatch on your watch from the Connect IQ Store.
Open the app — the 14-day full-feature trial starts automatically. No payment, no account.
To keep using it after the trial: buy the 1-Year Pass on the BaseballWatch homepage ($4.99, one time, good for a full year from the day you buy). You'll receive an activation key by email.
Enter the key in Connect IQ Mobile → BaseballWatch → Settings → License Key, then restart the app.

Game data comes from the public baseball stats API and reaches your watch through your phone — keep the watch paired with Garmin Connect Mobile and the phone online.

2. The Basics

Two routes cover almost everything. Follow them once and the rest of this manual is reference. Buttons are the same throughout: START moves forward through the screens of a game, BACK goes back one step.

Route 1 — follow a game from the list

Step	What happens
Open the app	The game list (Today's Scores) opens — every game of the day, one row each.
Tap a game	The main screen of that game opens, in Team Mode. Pitcher on the left, batter on the right, diamond in the middle.
START	Pitch view — every pitch of the current at-bat on the strike zone.
START	Inning history — the whole game, half-inning by half-inning.
START	Back to the main screen. The three screens cycle.
BACK	Back to the game list.

Route 2 — switch to your own players

Step	What happens
Tap the top of the screen	The settings menu opens.
Choose Track Mode	The value switches in place from Team to Player.
BACK	The main screen of Player Mode — built around one of your registered players.
START / BACK	The same as route 1 from here. UP / DOWN moves between your players.

Three layers, top to bottom: the game list is home, a game opens its main screen, and START cycles that game's three screens. Everything else hangs off a long press: hold the clock for the standings, hold a list row for the game detail, hold the diamond center for the player detail.

3. Home Screen

BaseballWatch opens on the home screen — Today's Scores, the whole day's games in one scrolling list. From here you open a game, jump to another day, or reach the settings.

The game list

Each row is one game — away on the left, home on the right. A live game shows the score with a small triangle-and-inning marker in the middle (▲3 = top of the 3rd, ▼3 = bottom); a finished game shows its final score in orange; an upcoming game shows the start time; a postponed game shows PPD.
The title tracks the day: IN GAME (n) while games are live, TODAY'S RESULTS once every game is final, NEXT GAMES (n) before any have started, or TODAY'S GAMES for a mix.
Green underline — in Player Mode, a team name is underlined in green when one of your watched players is in that game, so you can spot your games at a glance.
Scrolling — UP / DOWN (or swipe) scrolls the list, wrapping around endlessly. The list remembers itself: a game you come back from moves to the top, and reopening the app restores the list right where you left it (otherwise it focuses the most recently started live game).

Opening a game & navigating

Action	What it does
Tap a game row	Open the game — a finished game shows its result screen; a live or upcoming game (today) opens its live main screen. Games opened from the list are shown in Team Mode, even while you are using Player Mode.
Long-press a game row	Game detail — that game's starting pitchers, your watched members in it, and a stadium weather bar (below).
Tap the top (title area)	Open the settings menu (chapter 13) — including the new Watchface menu.
START	Open the game at the top of the list — so from launch, one press takes you straight back to the game you were last watching.
Tap the date (bottom)	Date navigation — step to past days (final results) or future days (scheduled games).
UP / DOWN / Swipe	Scroll the game list (endless).

Game result screen

Tap a finished game for its result — line score, W / S / L pitchers and both teams' home runs. Tap a pitcher or a home-run hitter to open that player's detail screen. START opens the game's inning history.

Game detail — starting pitchers & weather

Long-press a game to open its detail: the day's probable / starting pitchers, any of your watched members in the game, and a Stadium & Weather bar at the bottom — the venue name plus temperature, humidity, wind, pressure and elevation. Units follow your watch settings (°C / °F, m / ft). Weather comes from a free public forecast for the stadium's location, so no game data budget is spent on it.

Date navigation

Tap the date at the bottom of the list to move between days — past days show that day's final results, future days show the scheduled matchups. On a future day the games are previews only, so opening one just keeps it in the list; the result appears once it has actually been played.

Home watch face

The home screen doubles as a watch face. Settings → Watchface sets Background (Black / Gray / Grass / Pink), Clock Style, Clock Ticks and Hand Color.

Battery Saver dims the screen to just the clock and date after Off / 5 / 10 / 20 seconds without input (Off by default). Saver Wake picks how it returns — Motion or Tap. An event for a player you follow wakes it automatically.

Glance — your team before you even open the app

BaseballWatch also provides a glance — the two-line preview in the widget carousel: your favorite team's game and score on the top line, the game status on the bottom, and how long ago the data was fetched at the right edge.

If the glance doesn't appear after updating the app, remove BaseballWatch from the watch and install it again, then add it to the glance loop in the watch settings.

4. Two Modes

Team Mode follows one whole team; Player Mode follows up to 20 players of your choice, from any teams. Switch with Track Mode in Settings. After switching, BACK out of the menu lands you on that mode's main screen.

Mode	What it shows
Team Mode	Pick one favorite team. The 20 slots fill automatically with today's lineup and pitchers, and the screen auto-focuses the current batter or pitcher live (chapter 10).
Player Mode	Up to 20 players of your choice, from any teams. UP/DOWN cycles through them; each screen is built around one player and their game today.

Your registered players and your favorite team are stored separately — switching modes never erases the other mode's setup.

5. Managing Players (Player Mode only)

Player Mode tracks players by their official Player ID. Find any player's ID with the lookup tool on the BaseballWatch homepage — search by name and copy the number.

Minor league players

Player Mode is not limited to the majors. Register a player from Triple-A, Double-A, High-A or Single-A the same way — by Player ID — and they are followed exactly like a major leaguer: live at-bats, the day's stat line, season stats and inning history. The homepage lookup tool finds minor leaguers too, so you can search them by name.

Level badge — on the main screen a small amber badge inside the diamond, just above the B-S-O count, shows the level: AAA, AA, A+ or A. Major leaguers show no badge.
Parent club — the detail screen (chapter 11) adds the parent organization after the team name, e.g. Gwinnett Stripers (Atlanta Braves), so you always know whose system they are in.
Stats follow the level — season stats are the player's stats at the level they are currently playing at.
Called up? — if your player moves up (or down) a level, BaseballWatch picks up the change on its own and follows them to their new team. Nothing to re-register.

Team Mode covers the 30 major league clubs only — minor league teams are not in the Favorite Team list. To follow a minor leaguer, register them in Player Mode.

On the watch (Member List)

Open the settings menu (tap the upper area) and choose Member List. The 20 slots appear, each showing the player's name and a status marker — #slot number, G when watched, or OFF when the slot is disabled.
Select a slot to open its action menu. A filled slot offers Select Player (show it on the main screen), Reorder, Edit ID, Enabled (on/off) and Add Player; an empty slot offers just Edit ID and Add Player.
Edit ID opens a number pad — type the Player ID and confirm. Entering 0 empties the slot.

Watched players

In Player Mode a player is either watched or not. Long-press the upper part of the main screen to toggle the displayed player (white ↔ green):

Off (white) — not watched; no notifications and no auto-switch.
Watched (green) — notifications fire and the screen auto-switches to this player on their events. This is the W mark in the Member List.

Watching can also be switched from the Member List. In Team Mode every player of your team is watched automatically.

6. Main Screen

The main screen is one game seen through one player. BACK returns to the home list.

Top half — header: the clock, the displayed player's name, the game status (start time / live inning / final result), and the line-score scoreboard.
Bottom half — the live area: the diamond in the center (runners + B-S-O count), with the current pitcher on the left and the current batter on the right — each name colored by the top / bottom of the inning (see What the screen shows), with live stats and an order number.

What the screen shows

The two Live tabs are the same main screen with a pitcher featured and with a batter featured. Two things are worth comparing — the top / bottom colors, and the extra information shown for your own team's player.

Colors = top / bottom of the inning: the pitcher's name (left) and the batter's name (right) are colored by the top / bottom of the inning — top (bats first) = blue, bottom (bats second) = red. The batter takes the current half's color and the pitcher the opposite, so the two sides swap colors when the inning flips — the color shows the half, not who is pitching. Only the displayed player's name at the very top is colored by its watch state instead: green = watched, white = otherwise.
Header:Clock, the featured player's name, the live status, then the scoreboard.
Pitcher (left) / batter (right) — live & season stats:The current pitcher's and batter's stats sit along the bottom — WHIP / ERA / P / BB for the pitcher, AVG / OPS / RB / HR for the batter.

Action	What it does
Buttons
UP / DOWN / Swipe	Previous / next player (Player Mode). In Team Mode the screen follows the game automatically.
START	Cycles main screen → pitch view → inning history → main screen (chapters 12 and 9)
Long-press UP	Selection frame — browse mode by buttons (chapter 8)
BACK	Return to the home list (or step back out of browse / select modes first). From the home list, BACK exits the app.
Top half — header (clock · name · status · scoreboard)

Tap the scoreboard's right edge	Slides the board left so the normally-hidden H/E (hits / errors) columns come into view.

Before the game the screen shows the start time; during the game it goes fully live; after the final out the result stays on screen. One screen covers the entire day. For a full box score of a finished game — the pitchers of record (W / S / L) and every home run — open it from the home list instead (the Game Result screen, chapter 3).

7. Notifications & Effects

Real-time notifications

When something happens to a player you follow — hit, home run, stolen base, strikeout, an out recorded by your pitcher, or any other at-bat result — the watch vibrates, plays a tone, and switches the screen to that player. Home runs ring stronger than hits.

Player Mode also gives a lighter alert when one of your players comes to the plate or takes the mound; Team Mode stays quiet until a result comes in.

How notifications behave is set in Settings → Notification:

Whichever option you choose, the screen still follows the action. While you are browsing another player, only the notification sounds.

Screen switching in Player Mode

The screen does not switch away while the player on it is batting or pitching — another player starting is shown as a brief toast, and the screen moves there afterwards. UP / DOWN moves you manually at any time; auto-follow picks up again from the next player at bat or on the mound.

Event effects (animations)

Big moments get a celebration on top of the notification. Any game you open, not just your favorite team's:

Single — bronze ball, with confetti (about 5 seconds)
Double — silver ball, with confetti
Triple — gold ball, with confetti
Home run — diamond (gem) ball, with fireworks and confetti
Strikeout — white ball with a red K, swing-and-miss slashes, plus a snappy vibration (about 2.4 seconds). Fires when your pitcher records a strikeout.
Pitcher's outs — red result banner — when your featured pitcher retires a batter (groundout, flyout and the like), the result and the batter's name are shown big in the same red as the strikeout K, with a distinctive triple vibration. In Player Mode this fires only for the pitcher currently on screen.
Stolen base — speed lines and a dust burst (about 3 seconds), when a watched runner steals.
Your team's win — a waving flag with fireworks (Team Mode) — when the team on screen wins.
At-bat result text — a highlighted banner for at-bats that have no animation of their own (routine outs, walks and the like): the result is shown big with the batter's name for a few seconds, so you can see who did what before the display moves to the next batter. On-base results (walk, HBP, error, fielder's choice) are yellow-green, outs yellow; a gentle vibration and a low tone go with it.

Together these mean every result holds on screen long enough to read — strikeouts and hits get their animation, and every other at-bat gets its text banner — so the display never jumps to the next batter before you've seen what just happened.

Statcast on the play

Hit and home-run animations overlay the batted-ball data — the exit velocity (mph), and for home runs the distance (ft) too. And on the live main screen, the last pitch's speed and type (e.g. 96 FOUR) show by home plate inside the diamond, so you can read the radar gun every pitch. When the stadium doesn't supply this data, the figures simply don't appear.

The pitch type is shown as a 4-letter code:

8. Browse Mode

Peek at any player in the current game — step through the batting or pitching order, or check a runner — without losing the live view. The score, count and runners keep updating while you browse. There are two ways to drive it, by touch or by buttons; the feature is the same.

By touch

By buttons — the selection frame

Long-press UP and a selection frame appears on the field — handy mid-run or whenever touch is awkward. Move the frame to any on-field player (batter, pitcher, runners) and confirm.

Action	What it does
Long-press UP	Show the selection frame (starts on the batter)
UP / DOWN / Swipe	Move the frame: batter → pitcher → runners on base (cyclic). When the frame lands on a runner, that runner is displayed immediately.
START	Confirm — for a batter or pitcher, browse that order (UP / DOWN to the previous / next player)
BACK	From a selected view: back to the frame. From the frame: exit to the normal screen.

While the frame is shown, START is the picker (it does not open the inning history). Close the frame with BACK first, then START opens the history (chapter 9).

The browsed player's day — at-bat results so far, live stats — appears in the main area, so you can review the whole lineup between pitches.

9. Inning History

Press START on the main screen to cycle main → Pitch View → Inning History (a game with no pitch data goes straight to the history). On a finished game's result screen — including one opened from the game list — a single START opens that game's history. The history replays the whole game, half-inning by half-inning — both teams included. In Team Mode it shows your team's game; in Player Mode, the displayed player's game.

Reading the screen

Header: the batting team's abbreviation + the half-inning — TOP n in cyan, BOT n in red, so you always know which side is up.
Each row: batting-order number, batter's name, and the result code. +1 / +2 after the code is the RBI count.
Base-running rows: some rows show a runner's move instead of an at-bat — the runner's name with a code such as SB2 (stole 2nd). Steals, pickoffs and wild-pitch advances appear before the batter, tag-ups and outs on the bases after — all in event order.
Bottom: P: the pitcher who threw that half-inning. A mid-inning relief shows both, e.g. Dreyer>Klein. Below it, 3 OUTS (in red) marks a completed inning, or - in progress - for the current one.

Result codes

Code	Meaning
1B / 2B / 3B / HR	Single / double / triple / home run. A suffix shows the direction: -L left, -C center, -R right (HR-C = homer to center). A trailing -O means the batter was thrown out trying for an extra base (2B-C-O = doubled to center, out advancing).
GO / FLY / LINE / POP	Ground out / fly out / line out / pop out, with the fielder: GO-SS = grounder to short, FLY-L = fly to left.
K / K-DP	Strikeout / strikeout double play (shown in red)
BB / IBB / HBP	Walk / intentional walk / hit by pitch (light blue)
GIDP / TP	Grounded into double play / triple play (orange)
SF / SAC / FC / E / FORCE	Sacrifice fly / sacrifice bunt / fielder's choice / reached on error / force out
SB / CS / PO	Base-running by a runner (not the batter): stolen base / caught stealing / picked off, with the base — SB2, CS2, PO1.
WP / PB / TAG / OA / FE	Runner advanced on a wild pitch (WP) / passed ball (PB) / tag-up (TAG), thrown out advancing (OA), or advanced on a fielding error (FE) — with the base reached: WP3, TAGH (home), OA3, FE2.

Hits glow green, home runs gold — scan an inning at a glance and spot where the damage happened.

Navigation

Action	What it does
UP / DOWN / Swipe	Previous / next half-inning. When an inning has 7+ batters it scrolls within the inning first — the arrows on the right edge light up when more rows exist.
Tap an at-bat row	Open that player's detail screen (BACK returns to the history)
BACK / tap elsewhere	Close the history
START	Return to the main screen (the end of the START screen cycle)

Opened with START from the main screen, the history starts on the current (most recent) half-inning — a quick look answers "what just happened?", then UP rewinds the game. It keeps updating live while it's open.

10. Team Mode

Follow a whole team instead of individual players. Set your team in Settings → Favorite Team, then set Settings → Track Mode to Team.

The 20 slots fill automatically with today's lineup (batting order 1–9) and the pitchers — substitutions included as the game goes on.
Live, the screen auto-focuses your team's current batter when batting and your pitcher when fielding.
Every player of your team is watched — all notifications and event animations (chapter 7) are active, including the strikeout K for your pitcher.

Division standings

Open the settings menu (tap the upper area) and choose Standings. Each row shows a team's abbreviation, win–loss record, games behind (GB) and current streak; the header names the division.

Action	What it does
UP / DOWN / Swipe	Cycle through all six divisions (AL / NL East, Central, West) — the header shows which one (e.g. 2/6).
Long-press a team row	Peek at that team's game in Team Mode, then return to the main screen — your saved favorite team is untouched.
Tap / START / BACK	Close and return to the main screen.

Division standings — NL West (6/6), each row showing W–L, games behind (GB) and the current streak. UP / DOWN cycles through the six divisions.

11. Detail Screen

Long-press the center of the diamond to open the displayed player's detail screen — it also works while browsing another player.

At Bats — every at-bat result of today's game (AB 1: Walk, AB 2: Flyout, ...)
Game Pitching — for pitchers: pitch count, strikes, strike %, decision, walks, HBP and home runs allowed
Season — season totals: AVG / HR / RBI / OPS for batters, W-L / ERA / IP / K / WHIP / SV for pitchers

Add / remove from your Player Mode list

At the bottom of the detail screen, Add / Remove puts the player in or out of your Player Mode list (and turns their notifications on or off). List Full shows when all 20 slots are taken.

12. Pitch View

The pitch view turns the live area into a pitch-by-pitch chart of the current at-bat. Press START on the main screen, or tap the center of the diamond, to open it; tap or BACK to return (a long-press there opens the detail screen instead).

Each marker is one pitch, numbered and colored by result with the latest one ringed; the compact bases and the latest pitch's speed & type sit below.

What the pitch view shows

Strike zone (3×3): each pitch of the current at-bat is plotted where it crossed the plate, color-coded by result — ball, strike, foul, or in-play — and numbered in order. The latest pitch is ringed.
Pitch history list: the number and pitch type of each pitch, on the free side of the screen, colored to match its marker.
Speed & type: right after a new pitch, its speed and type appear for a few seconds where the count normally sits, then the count returns.
Names & stats: the pitcher (left) and batter (right) with the same stats as the normal live view, plus the batter's stance (RHB / LHB) or the pitcher's throwing hand (RHP / LHP).
Count & bases: the B-S-O count and a compact three-diamond base indicator (a base lights up yellow when a runner is on it) sit at the bottom.

The pitch view needs pitch-location data, available for Major League and Triple-A games (Double-A and below don't provide it, so the view won't open there). Between batters or during a stoppage the view stays open and simply waits — the zone is empty until the next pitch.

13. Settings

Almost everything is set on the watch: tap the top of the home list, or the upper part of the main screen, to open the settings menu. Each entry shows its current value, and single-value items (Track Mode, Notification) toggle in place when you select them.

These items live in the phone's Connect IQ settings panel:

14. Troubleshooting

The screen shows Waiting... / no game

The player's team simply has no game today, or the day's games haven't started. The screen shows the start time once a game is scheduled.

Data stops updating

Check that the watch is connected to Garmin Connect Mobile and the phone has internet. The screen keeps up with the game on its own; there is nothing to set.

No notifications arrive

Check Settings → Notification isn't set lower than you expect, and — in Player Mode — that the player has the W (watch) flag in the Member List. In Team Mode all players notify automatically.

A registered player never shows data

The Player ID is probably wrong. Look the player up by name with the homepage lookup tool and re-enter the exact numeric ID (Member List → Edit ID).

Inning history says No game today

The team being looked up (your favorite team, or the displayed player's team) has no game today. During off days the history has nothing to show.

An animation didn't play

Effects play for watched batters' hits and homers, and for your pitcher's strikeouts, during live games. While you're browsing or the selection frame is open, effects hold back so they don't interrupt you — the vibration and tone still fire.

Trial expired

Buy the 1-Year Pass on the homepage ($4.99), enter the emailed key in Connect IQ settings → License Key, and restart the app. Your players and settings are still on the watch and come back after activation.

How long the pass lasts

The pass runs for a full year from the day you buy it. There is no subscription and no auto-renewal, so there is nothing to cancel. Your receipt and activation key stay in the email Stripe sends you.
